How to Use
- Choose the storage unit you have in the From dropdown, decimal or binary, and your target unit in the To dropdown.
- Type the size into the value box. The converted size appears live in the second box with the unit symbol beside it.
- Swap the two units with the arrow button when you need the reverse direction, and press Copy to reuse the result.
- Open a tile in Common Data Storage Conversions for pairs such as GB to MB, or follow any link under All Data Storage Conversions to a page with a full conversion table.

About Data Storage Conversion
Digital storage has two incompatible readings of the same prefixes. Drive makers and SI count in decimal steps, so a kilobyte is 1000 bytes and a gigabyte a thousand million; operating systems historically counted in powers of two, where those names meant 1024 and 1073741824 bytes. The IEC settled the clash in 1998 by naming the binary units kibibyte, mebibyte and gibibyte, although Windows still prints GB while measuring GiB. Bits are a separate trap: eight bits make one byte, and link speeds are quoted in bits.
Eleven units sit side by side here, decimal and binary, with the byte as the base and the bit treated as one-eighth of a byte. Counts of a trillion bytes or more switch to scientific notation, and smaller results carry four to eight decimal places. The whole calculation is done by the page itself.
