About Volume (Dry) Conversion
US dry measure is a separate family from the liquid measure people know. A dry pint holds 0.55061 liters against the liquid pint's 0.473 liters, and the dry gallon is not the gallon on a fuel pump. The series descends from the Winchester bushel of 1697, defined as a cylinder 18.5 inches across and 8 inches deep, so a bushel comes out at 2150.42 cubic inches rather than anything tidy. Grain is also traded by weight per bushel, 60 pounds for wheat and 56 for corn, so a bushel here is strictly a volume.
Nine units are included, mixing the dry series with liters, cubic inches and cubic feet, with the liter as the base for the arithmetic. Figures of ten or more show at most four decimals, with more digits kept as the number gets smaller. Everything is worked out on your device as you edit the fields.
