About This Tool
A QR code is a two-dimensional matrix symbol specified in ISO/IEC 18004. The three large finder squares let a scanner locate and orient it from any angle, and Reed-Solomon error correction lets a reader recover the payload even when part of the symbol is dirty, creased or covered. Four correction levels exist, L, M, Q and H, recovering roughly 7, 15, 25 and 30 percent of the code. Stronger correction costs modules, so the same data produces a denser grid.
Here the input is encoded by the qrcode.js library at correction level M. The symbol is drawn in your browser in dark navy on white at a size you set between 128 and 512 pixels in 32-pixel steps, and Download saves it as a PNG. The text you type is never transmitted, though the library script itself is fetched from a public CDN.
Notes & Limits
- Correction level is fixed at M, around 15 percent recovery. Overlaying a logo or printing on a surface that will scuff calls for level Q or H, which this tool does not offer.
- Export is PNG only, at the pixel size shown on screen. For large-format print, where a vector stays sharp at any scale, you need a generator that emits SVG.
- Colors are fixed at dark navy on white. That avoids the low-contrast and inverted codes that defeat many scanners, but it also rules out brand coloring.
- The destination is baked into the pattern, so a printed code can never be repointed. Encode a short URL you control if the target might change later.
